Genuine Lapis Lazuli (Afghan)
Lapis Lazuli (Chilean) has now been replaced by a Genuine Lapis Lazuli (Afghan). The Chilean pigment is no longer available to us due to the indefinite closure of the mine in the Andes. Michael has sourced a new supplier for this wonderful historic pigment and managed to find a very good quality of the real Afghan lapis, at an affordable price. The Afghan Lapis Lazuli oil paint has the same specifications as its Chilean version, only it displays a much brighter, cleaner bleu that is less green. We have made a small batch of this Afghan Lapis and it is, as expected even more attractive than the Chilean. Please note that only a limited amount is available initially, we will be making more shortly. Thank you for your patience.

- LAPIS LAZULI AFGHAN - PUREST QUALITY AVAILABLE
The purest and oldest form of the Lapis Lazuli pigment is also found in Afghanistan.
This purest Lapis was the inspiration for the modern synthetic ultramarine blue and its colour is a deeper,
less dirty blue than the other lapis qualities; the handling qualities are identical.
This is what the old masters used for centuries. This pigmentquality was and still is very expensive and rare.
Nowadays it is mainly used by restorers.
Michael Harding can make this very special colour for you on request, we do not have it in stock. Please contact your local art shop for prices.
